Exclusive Hybrid — propagation restricted
Florida Man is proprietary genetics of Hybridizing Dragon Fruit LLC. Cuttings, rooted plants, seeds, pollen, flowers and tissue cultures are supplied for personal cultivation and personal fruit production only.
Commercial propagation, cloning, tissue culture for sale, and transfer of viable cuttings to third parties for commercial use are prohibited without prior expressed written consent. See the full Exclusive Hybrid clause.
These terms will apply when Florida Man becomes available. You will be asked to accept them once, at that point — joining the waitlist commits you to nothing.
Florida Man has not been released yet. It is real, it is growing here, and everything below was measured on our own plants — but we are building up stock before selling any, so that when it does go on sale we can fill the orders instead of selling out in a day. The release will be announced on our YouTube channel.

Hardiness
And the toughness? Almost unreasonable. This is a dragon fruit that has shrugged off 95°+ degrees at 90%+ humidity for weeks without blinking, then turned around and survived an entire week in the low 30s during the Florida freeze... with zero damage. Heat, cold, humidity: Florida Man doesn't just survive it, it thrives through it.
Not sheltered greenhouse plants — that is what established plants have taken outdoors, unprotected, in Cape Coral.
When to pick it
Florida Man reaches peak ripeness 35–40+ days after the flower opens. Where you pick inside that window decides what you taste, and it is a real choice rather than a margin of error.
Picked at around 35 days the sweet/tart ratio is at its most balanced, and the flavor is at its most complex. Left to 40 days or beyond it becomes intensely sweet, but loses some of that flavor complexity.
Flowering and fruiting run early May to November, so a healthy plant gives you several rounds of fruit across the season — and several chances to try picking at different days and decide which you prefer.

Before you buy one
Florida Man is not self-fertile. On its own it will flower but not set fruit. It needs pollen from a different variety, applied by hand on the night the flower opens — which takes about a minute and is genuinely enjoyable.

Full siblings
Florida Man came out of the same cross as 3 other varieties on this site. They are siblings, not clones — every seedling from a cross is genetically its own plant, which is why they taste and look different.
